The Conservatives retained control of Broomfield & Writtle, Dunmow, Thaxted and Stansted at the Essex County Council Elections. The biggest Conservative success came in Stansted where Ray Gooding was returned with a much increased majority of 496 despite the Liberal Democrats focusing all of their campaigning on the seat.
