Government launches expanded Public Awareness Campaign

virus campaign

Today, the Government is launching an expanded public awareness campaign so everyone knows exactly what they should be doing to keep themselves and others safe in the fight against coronavirus.

  • The action plan announced by the Prime Minister yesterday sets out how ministers will take every reasonable step to confront the virus. Every Government department will have a designated minister who will oversee their department’s role to the virus and a war room will be set up in the Cabinet Office to bring together communications experts and scientists to roll out a public information campaign.
  • This public information campaign emphasises that every single person has a role to play, helping to manage the spread of the virus, by washing their hands for 20 seconds and catching their coughs and sneezes.
  • We are well prepared for the virus, with the government and NHS working around the clock to keep the public safe, and it is vital that everybody does their bit.
