Throughout my first term as a District Councillor I served on the Planning and Licensing Committees and on the Local Plan Working group. I had the privilege to serve for 3 years as Deputy to Cabinet Housing portfolio holder Cllr Redfern.
During that time I chaired the Housing Board and was involved in a large number of changes that were made across the portfolio to improve the terms and conditions of tenancies.
The most far reaching change was self – financing of the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) and the biggest benefit to show for that is the building of new council houses. I was recently promoted to hold the Cabinet Portfolio for Community and Partnerships taking over from Cllr Rolfe, the new Leader.
This wide ranging brief allows me to be alongside those working to maintain and improve our local economy and social care services. As a result I have become more aware of the concerns, hopes and the aspirations of the community I serve. I want to be able to continue working to make sure that our district remains a good place in which to live and work and I pledge to devote my efforts to support the work of the Council and to ensure the best interests of the community are at the heart of the decisions we make.
