I am now delighted to say to my supporters in Barnston that the Conservative Association has decided to adopt me as one of the three candidates for the enlarged ward of Dunmow South & Barnston. These changes mean that whilst residents in Barnston know me well, I will be a new candidate in Dunmow South and residents there will need to know a little of my background.
My wife Pat and I lived in Barnston since the late 70s and in Dunmow itself for the past 8 years. I was first elected to the District Council in 2003 at a time when the Liberal Democrats took control, a disaster which was brought to an end four years later.
I am proud to have been a member of the Council which has been transformed from near bankruptcy in 2007 to being the custodians of a District which, according to the Halifax Quality of Life survey, has become the number 1 place to live in the U.K. I hope that each of you will agree with the Halifax and re-elect your Conservative administration to continue the good work and that you vote for Eric Hicks at the ballot box in 2015.
