Association & Officers

General Election 2017

Led by a team of dedicated volunteers and staff, the Association provides a home for local activists working together in support of the Conservative Party. With a broad church ideological home, we are always open to welcoming new members and supporters within our very own conservative family.

We are one of the most vibrant Party organisations in the country, boasting a range of strong societies for our members and supporters to get involved with, including a flourishing Young Conservatives, award-winning Policy Forum, as well as area Branches which all host regular events.

An elected Officers Committee sets the organisation's overall direction and administration on campaigning, events, membership and finance. The Executive Council, which meets twice a year, oversees this work and is comprised of the Officers Committee, Events Committee, Branch Officers, as well as senior Conservative Councillors on Uttlesford District, Chelmsford City and Essex County councils.

Chairman
The Chairman is responsible for the good management of the Association. It is expected that they have a good relationship with the Association members and elected politicians.
The Chairman chairs the Executive Council meetings (management committee of the Association) and must make sure that the rules of the Association are followed. The Chairman reports to the Executive Council.

Our Chairman is Howard Rolfe

Deputy Chairman (Political)
The Deputy Chairman (Political) co-ordinates campaign activities within the Parliamentary Constituency and strives to foster political discussion and ideas with the Association. This position reports to the Chairman.

Our Deputy Chairman (Chelmsford) is Mike Steel and for Uttlesford is James Noble

 Deputy Chairman (Membership and Fundraising)
The Deputy Chairman (Membership & Fundraising) co-ordinates growing the Association membership and ensuring that new members are welcomed into the organisation. This position must also make sure that all members are kept informed of political and fundraising activities in the Parliamentary Constituency and ensuring that enough funds are available to maintain the Association on its strategic objectives. This position reports to the Chairman.

Our Deputy Chairman is Andy Pryer

All officers are required within 28 days of assuming office to prepare a plan of objectives and activities for the forthcoming year, which is then presented to the Association Executive Council.
