Alan Haselhurst was re-elected with a much improved majority securing over 30 thousand votes at last Thursdays General Election.
Sir Alan called for Tory leader David Cameron to be allowed to form a Government and said he would then prove he had the ability to run the country effectively. He discounted any suggestion that Gordon Brown should remain as Prime Minister. While he did not advocate a Conservative pact with the Liberal Democrats, he believed it would be possible to work together.
